South Hook LNG Terminal - Weatherproof Access

Insulation work had to be carried out in protected, dry conditions

Scope

To create weatherproof access solutions in a exposed coastal environment for the new build of a regasification plant was an easy task for us.

Challenge

For the construction of this major new regasification plant in West Wales, we developed and erected a series of weatherproof access solutions for the installation of insulation for the tanks and pipelines. The insulation work had to be carried out under protected and dry conditions - a particular challenge in view of the exposed coastal position of the plant.

Performance

The solution was developed using a modular aluminium roofing system. Despite its light-weight, it was able to span large widths. The structure was covered with a translucent covering, allowing all work to be carried out in daylight with full protection against the weather.

“One of the best systems that I have used. I lost one day out of 18 months due to bad weather. Unbelievable.”
